Shahrukh's My Name is Khan witnessed good opening

The much-hyped film My Name is Khan, starring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol, had a good opening last Friday in spite of the controversy around before its release. It earned around Rs.250 million across the globe on the opening day.

The film earned about $9,727 in New Zealand and $300,000 in the Middle-East. The demand for the film in the Middle-East is so much so that its print would be increased to 60 by next week. It is expected to be released in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Oman and Lebanon very soon.

My Name is Khan earned about $1.86 million in the US and Canada. It also raked in about $193,000 from 89 sites in Britain from paid previews and $34,000 in Australia. The makers of the film are planning to release it across 25 non-traditional markets from April in a phased manner.

This film by Karan Johar is about is about a man, who goes all the way to the US to win back his love.
