Salman’s Dabangg bags National Award

South Indian films walked away with most of the top awards when the 58th National Awards was announced in Delhi yesterday (May 19). However, the consolation comes in the form of Arbaaz Khan's debut production venture, Dabangg starring Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. The film bagged National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Other Bollywood films that National Award includes Rishi Kapoor-Neetu Singh's film, Do Dooni Chaar, which was named Best Hindi Feature Film. Vishal Bhardwaj's Ishqiya won four awards, including Best Music, Best Female Playback Singer for Rekha Bhardwaj, Best Location Sound Recordist for Kamod Karade and Best Re-recordist of the final mixed track for Debajit Changmai.

Besides doing exceptionally well at the box office, Dabangg bagged several awards this year. Its heroine Sonakshi Sinha won Best Female Debutant award in almost all the film awards.
