Aamir Khan praised for naming son Azad Rao Khan

Filmmaker Onir praised Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao for including the last name Khan as well as Rao in the surname of their new born son Azad. Onir tweeted on the micro blogging site Twitter and called it an 'important gesture'.

Aamir Khan and wife Kiran Rao named their new born son Azad Roy Khan after freedom fighter and Aamir"s 'great grand-uncle Maulana Abul Kalam Azad.

Speaking about Aamir and Kiran's decision to include the last names of both parent, he tweeted, “I think its lovely and really progressive that Amir and Kiran included both KHAN and RAO in their son's name. An important gesture."

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's son Azad Rao Khan was born on December 1 through IVF to a surrogate mother at a private clinic in Mumbai. The couple opted for IVF due to medical problems.
