Akshay's Rowdy Rathore is remake of Telugu film

Actor Akshay Kumar's next venture with director Prabhu Deva, Rowdy Rathore, is a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Vikramarkudu. The film is touted as Akki's return to the action genre. The actor will be seen in a double role like the original film. Actress Sonakshi Sinha will star opposite Akshay.

Akshay and Sonakshi have also shot for Shirish Kunder's Joker. Sanjay Leela Bhansali is co-producing the film with designer Shabina Khan. Rowdy Rathore will mark as the second directorial venture of choreographer turned actor-director, Prabhu Deva.

Earlier, Prabhu had directed Salman Khan's blockbuster film Wanted, which was also a remake of his Tamil direction Pokiri. Reportedly, Rowdy Rathore will be an official remake of Vikramarkudu, which was originally directed by S S Rajamouli and starred Ravi Teja and Anushka Shetty.
