Satyadev Dubey is a 'huge theatre icon': Amitabh Bachchan

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has expressed his heart-felt condolences over the sudden death of maverick artiste Satyadev Dubey. Remembering his contribution to the theatre industry, Big B described him as a 'huge theatre icon'. He also recalled his work experience with him in the movie Deewar.

On Monday, Amitabh Bachchan took to his Twitter page to share his grief over Satyadev Dubey's death. The 69-year-old actor wrote, "Sudden news of the passing away of Satyadev Dubey... a huge theatre icon... committed and passionate about his craft... Condolences!!"

The senior Bollywood also recounted the small scene from his 1975 hit film Deewar, where Dubey was his co-star. Amitabh Bachchan further tweeted, "Satyadev Dubey... played a small but significant role in Deewar with me... the dock scene where he refuses to pay 'hafta'."

However, Satyadev Dubey was a theatre actor, director, playwright, screenwriter, film actor and director. He was in coma for the past four months. The multi-feceted persona died on Sunday at the age of 75. His sudden demise is a great loss to both theatre and film industry.
