Anusha
Rizvi
would
be
honoured
with
the
Gollapudi
Srinivas
National
Award
for
the
year
2010
for
his
debut
directorial
venture
Peepli
Live,
which
was
nominated
for
Oscars
2011.
The
award
comprises
a
cash
prize
of
Rs
1.5
lakh
and
it
would
be
presented
to
Rizvi
at
a
function
to
be
held
here
on
August
12.
Anusha
Rizvi's
Peepli
Live,
which
has
been
produced
under
Aamir
Khan
banner,
is
a
satire
on
media's
trivialisation
of
farmers'
suicide.
It
has
been
appreciated
by
both
audience
and
the
film
critics.
It
has
been
screened
at
International
Film
Festivals
held
at
Durban,
Berlin
and
Sundance
and
has
also
won
the
Best
Feature
Film
award
in
Durban.
However,
the
Gollapudi
Srinivas
National
Award
is
one
of
prestigious
awards
in
India.
It
has
been
instituted
by
the
Gollapudi
Srinivas
Memorial
Foundation,
which
was
established
in
1998
after
the
death
of
director
Gollapudi
Srinivas.
Ever
since
the
Foundation
has
been
honouring
one
Bollywood
director
every
year.
Amit
Rai,
Praesh
Mokashi,
Aamir
Khan
are
some
of
the
B-Town
filmmaker,
who
have
received
this
honour.
