Actress
Deepika
Padukone,
who
will
soon
be
seen
portraying
the
role
of
a
girl
next
door
in
upcoming
Prakash
Jha's
film
Aarakshan,
says
that
she
got
her
admissions
in
college
through
sports
reservation.
She
was
an
active
sports
person
when
in
college
and
thus
flashed
her
sports
certificate
to
get
admissions
in
college.
"I
owe
my
admission
to
the
sports
quota.
It
worked
for
me,
so
reservation
has
touched
my
life.
But
then
there
is
a
much
wider
impact
of
reservation
in
education
and
jobs.
It
has
its
own
benefits
and
pitfalls.
I
am
sure
that
the
film
would
fetch
varied
reactions," Deepika
told
PTI.
Deepika
reasons
that
her
college
connections
to
reservations
is
what
interested
her
to
do
Aarakshan,
when
it
came
her
way.
She
added
that
the
film
is
minus
any
kind
of
glamour
or
romance
quotient
and
therefore
it
is
far
away
from
masala
flicks.
Though
the
film
is
totally
away
from
any
king
of
masala
content,
Aarakshan
has
a
huge
amount
of
drama
quotient
in
it.
Deepika
plays
the
role
of
a
girl,
who
is
torn
between
her
love
Saif
Ali
Khan
and
father
Amitabh
Bachchan.
Talking
about
her
on-screen
chemistry
with
Bachchan,
Deepika
says,
“Before
stepping
into
Aarakshan,
I
had
never
interacted
with
him
(Bachchan)
very
closely.
I
had
perhaps
met
him
a
few
times
socially
on
a
'hello-hi' basis
but
that's
about
it.
Due
to
that
I
was
really
very
flustered
on
the
first
day
of
the
shoot
as
I
didn't
quite
know
what
to
expect
from
him."
"But
when
I
look
back
and
reflect,
I
think
it
was
all
in
my
own
head," she
added.
Deepika
says
that
the
scenes
between
her
and
Mr.
Bachchan
create
several
brilliant
father-daughter
moments
in
Aarakshan.
Giving
all
the
credit
to
director
Jha,
who
has
written
the
scenes
so
brilliantly,
Deepika
elaborates
a
scene
featuring
her,
Amitabh
and
Tanvi
Azmi
which
beautifully
presents
a
close
knit
family.
Deepika
who
has
failed
to
strike
gold
at
the
Box
Office
lately
with
films
like
Break
Ke
Baad,
Lafangey
Parindey,
Karthik
Calling
Karthik,
Khelein
Hum
Jee
Jaan
Se
Bhi,
believes
that
Aarakshan
will
definitely
reach
to
the
hearts
of
the
audience.
The
other
upcoming
release
of
the
actress
are
Desi
Boyz
and
Cocktail.
Prakshan
Jha's
Aarakshan
explores
the
politics
behind
reservation
in
education
and
job
system
and
the
way
it
effects
the
lives
of
the
commoners.
The
film
apart
from
Deepika
stars
Megastar
Amitabh
Bachchan,
Saif
Ali
Khan,
Prateik
Babbar
and
Manoj
Bajpai.
The
film
is
slated
for
an
August
12
release.
