By Kalyani Prasad Keshri

Till yesterday Ram Gopal Varma was complaining that he can't use the title song from him own film Rangeela, but looks like now he has nothing to complain about. RGV has finally managed to get the rights of the song 'Hoja Rangeela Re' from his 1995 film Rangeela. The director will be re-shooting a darker version of the song with actress Mahie Gill, the lead of his next film Not A Love Story.

Ramu was very keen on using the song for his upcoming crime thriller Not A Love Story, as it perfectly suited the film's plot based on the life of aspiring actress and alleged killer Maria Susairaj. However, till yesterday he couldn't get the legal rights of this song composed by musician AR Rahman.

Varma now has confirmed that he has finally got the rights to the track. He paid about 8 Lakhs to Tips for the song. This second version of 'Rangeela Re' will be dark and haunting, feature Mahie, who is portraying the role of Susairaj. The original song was written by Mehboob and sung by Asha Bhosle. The newer version has been re-rendered by a new singer Tarannum and rearranged by Amar Mohile.

Mohile confirms Mid Day, "The original was a very peppy track. This one is a very slow and sad version. The character wants to become very famous but ends up in jail. There is no rhythm in the song initially but it ends on a crescendo. The melody is the same but the arrangement, orchestration and the sound designing is just opposite."

Ramu informed, "It's being used as a background track and it's not going to be shot in lip sync."
