Saif Ali Khan's Cocktail in musical fiasco

By Raymond Ronamai

Saif Ali Khan and Sunil Bohra have landed up in a musical fiasco. Saif's production house Illuminati Films has bought the rights of the song titled “Jugni" from Pakistani singer Aarif Lohar and Coke Studio for its film Cocktail. Bohra too has struck a deal on the use of the song for Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster and has even shot it featuring Randeep Hooda and Mahie Gill. This has caused trouble between the filmmakers.

“I bought the song since it suited a particular sequence in my film. We do not own the copyright of the song but have a simple licensing deal," Mumbai Mirror quoted Bohra as saying. “We do not have a problem with anybody else having the song. In fact, I wish them all the luck. Jugni is a beautiful song and it can be shot with 100 different actors in 100 different ways without it losing its charm," he added.

Saif has a different opinion on the issue. “We have got the rights to Aarif Lohar"s “Jugni" and I am not aware what the other producer has bought," he said. “It is a folk song and there are many different versions. We have got the rights from Coke Studio and Aarif Lohar. No other producer can use it. Lohar has given us the rights. If any other producer uses it, we will sue them. They can meet us in court," he added.
