The
ashes
of
late
Bollywood
actor
Shammi
Kapoor,
who
passed
away
on
August
14
at
the
age
of
79,
were
immersed
in
the
river
Jhelum
in
Jammu
and
Kashmir
today.
The
B-Town
star's
family
members
said
that
the
actor
had
a
special
affinity
for
the
picturesque
northern
state,
where
some
of
his
hit
movies
were
shot.
Talking
to
PTI,
Shammi
Kapoor's
son
Aditya
Raj
Kapoor
said,
"We
have
immersed
his
ashes
in
the
river
Jhelum
that
flows
in
Pakistan
also.
He
romanced
with
Kashmir.
We
also
went
to
Srinagar's
Dal
lake
in
a
shikara
(wooden
boat)
considering
the
love
of
the
legend
for
it.
We
also
planted
a
sapling
at
Lalit
Hotel
in
Kashmir
as
my
father
used
to
stay
there
whenever
he
was
in
Kashmir."
However,
Shammi
Kapoor's
family
members
like
his
daughter
Kanchan,
Adtiya's
wife
Preeti
were
present
on
the
occasion.
Some
of
his
close
friends
from
the
film
industry
like
Asha
Parekh,
Vinod
Khanna,
Vidhu
Vinod
Chopra
and
a
few
others,
who
also
made
to
the
family
ritual.
