Vidya Balan to be booked for obscenity in The Dirty Picture

The Hyderabad city court has directed the police to book a criminal case against actress Vidya Balan for posing indecently for The Dirty Picture posters and promos.

Nampally criminal courts in Hyderabad ordered the Nallakunta police station in the city to book a criminal case against Vidya Balan for posing for indecent photographs for The Dirty Picture posters and promos.

The orders were passed after advocate SK Azad filed a petition in the city court against the actress. The judge asked police to book Vidya Balan under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and also under Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.

According to the petitioner, the public display of The Dirty Picture posters and promotional advertisements spoilt the minds of the youth.

Not long ago, brother of late Silk Smitha, V Naga Varaprasad Rao had accused the makers of The Dirty Picture of portraying his sister in a negative manner. He had also moved the Andhra Pradesh High Court, objecting its release. However, the court refused to stop the release of The Dirty Picture since the film makers denied the allegations that the film is based on Silk Smitha's life.

The Dirty Picture, produced by Balaji Telefilms and directed by Milan Luthria, stars Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor.
