Amitabh
Bachchan's
fan
following
is
mind
blowing
and
he
is
undoubtedly
the
superstar
of
Bollywood.
But
that's
not
the
only
reason
why
he
enjoys
so
much
popularity.
His
fans
also
love
him
for
his
philanthropy
work.
Amitabh
Bachchan
recently
came
to
the
rescue
of
90
farmers
in
Maharashtra's
Wardha
district
as
they
were
on
Saturday
given
cheques
to
repay
their
debt.
The
actor
donated
30
lakhs
to
help
the
needy
farmers.The
farmers
were
selected
from
over
20
villages
of
the
district
by
members
of
the
Rotary
Club
of
Gandhi
City
Wardha
and
Rotary
Club
of
Mumbai.
Member
and
past
president
of
Rotary
Club
of
Gandhi
City,
Wardha,
Mahesh
Makolkar
told
IANS,
"When
Bachchan
expressed
his
willingness
to
contribute
to
the
cause
of
farmers,
we
scrutinised
the
debt
amount
of
farmers
in
these
villages
and
sent
a
list
of
over
300
farmers
to
him.”
Mahesh
also
revealed
that
after
the
list
was
sent
to
Amitabh
Bachchan,
representatives
from
his
side
visited
these
villages
and
verified
the
information.
They
also
narrowed
down
the
list
to
114.
There
are
over
900
villages
in
the
district,
out
of
which
farmers
of
22
villages
were
selected
for
the
monetary
help.
Big
B
in
an
interview
to
a
leading
daily
said,
“I
admit
that
I'm
moved
by
the
plight
of
farmers
across
India.
What
is
disturbing
is
that
farmers
are
committing
suicide
because
of
their
inability
to
pay
back
loans
of
even
10,000.
When
a
farmer
ends
his
life,
he
also
orphans
his
family."
Amitabh
further
added,
"People
sometimes
spend
more
than
10,000
on
a
meal.
If
this
amount
can
be
channelized
to
save
someone's
life,
I
would
say,
why
not
give
it
for
a
noble
cause?"
Well,
Mr
Bachchan
we
have
only
one
word
for
you
–
RESPECT!!
