Chitrangada's look in Joker not inspired by Madhuri

Mumbai: Actress Chitrangada Singh is doing her first item number in Joker. It was being rumoured that her look in this song 'I Want Just You' was inspired by Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit's look in her hit song 'Humko Aaj Kal Hai'. But designer Rick Roy, who has styled her for the item song, has slammed the reports.

It was reported that the item song had some similarities in terms of look and attire to Madhuri's song from the 1990 film Sailaab. Talking to PTI, Rick Roy said, "Chitrangada is in a totally different avatar in this song. The look wasn't inspired by Madhuri. Farah Khan's (choreographer-producer) brief to me was to make sure she looks outstanding, and that's what I followed."

Farah Khan wanted Rick Roy to create a classy look for her in the song and he has done it. Rick Roy added, "Even though it is an item number we wanted it to be very classy... we wanted that very rustic Indian village look for her and that's what we did."

Rick Roy has also styled Chitrangada Singh for her another upcoming film Inkaar, which is being directed by Sudhir Mishra. Inkaar is a love story with sexual harassment in the backdrop. Chitrangada and Arjun Rampal are playing the lead role in the movie. Talking about it, Rick says that it was a challenge for him

The designer said, "Inkaar was a very challenging film for me. Firstly, its Sudhir Mishra who I admire a lot, and it was a film that was very real and it had to look believable. I wanted to make sure Chitra looks very stylish but also shouldn't be out of place. Chitrangada sports three very distinct looks in the film as her character progresses. Its a very interesting film. Sudhir is an encyclopedia of knowledge."
