New Delhi: Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who is facing the charges of illegal possession of a rifle in connection with the 1993 bomb blasts, has finally admitted meeting underworld don Dawood Ibrahim once at a dinner that was hosted by him in Dubai. The actor has made this confessional statement in the Supreme Court of India on Tuesday.

Sanjay Dutt had challenged a trial court verdict convicting him under the Arms Act and awarding him sentence of six years for possessing weapons illegally. The actor had given a confessional statement to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with his arrest in 1993 bomb blasts. In this statement he had mentioned of having met Dawood Ibrahim. The Supreme Court queried his statement during the hearing on his appeal.

Senior counsel Harish Salve, appearing for Sanjay Dutt in a case related to illegal possession of a rifle, answered the questions raised by the court. Salve said that the actor had met the don along with two film producers in Dubai where he had hosted a dinner. The senior counsel added the dinner related to the period prior to the 1993 serial bomb blasts and that was the only occasion that the actor met the don.
