Shekhar Kapur recalls Raj Kanwar's obsession, tragedy

Bollywood director Raj Kanwar, who died in Singapore on February 3, had worked as an assistant to filmmaker Shekhar Kapur. While attending his funeral, Shekhar Kapur, who was shocked by his sudden death, recalled his obsession to films and the biggest tragedy in his life.

On his Twitter page, Shekhar Kapur wrote, "At funeral of Raj Kanwar who's first job was my assistant n went on to make many successful films. Still remember him as a kid obsessed by film. 15 members of Raj Kanwar's family were massacred in riots after Indira Gandhi assassination. I was with him that day now at his funeral."

However, the cremation of Raj Kanwar was held at Andheri in Mumbai on 5th February and Shekhar Kapur was one among the big celebrities those who attended his funeral. The filmmaker further wrote, "I often stay at funerals long after people have left. After the ritual its a place to reflect on your own mortality."
