Yash Raj Film's Gunday team is getting set to shoot some of its action sequences in a coal mine set. The set is currently being recreated for the next schedule. The set is the first of its kind. The story of this upcoming film revolves around two thieves who get involved in the coal mafia.

The director of the film Ali Abbas Zafar, Production Designer Rajat Poddar and Director of Photography Aseem Mishra have done an extensive research on coal mines to recreation of the set possible. Thorough study was done in many coal fields of India, from Singhrauli mines in UP & MP to Raniganj belt in West Bengal to get the details right for this set.

The last time a coal mine set was seen in a Yash Raj Film was in Yash Chopra's Kaala Patthar in 1979. Kaala Patthar had a Hollywood team to be on board and supervise the technicality of the shooting on location. The discussions between late Yash Chopra and the director Ali Zafar in August 2012 proved were invaluable for Gunday. Late Yash Chopra had shared all his experiences of shooting the coal mine sequences of Kala Patthar with Ali. This later became the instruction manual for the set construction for Gunday. The team thinks of this as a small ode to the legendary Yash Chopra in their own cinematic way.

The film starring Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and Priyanka Chopra is set to release on February 14, Valentine's day 2014. The set is expected to see high-octane action.
