Dev Patel One Of The Most Influential Global Indians

British actor Dev Patel has been listed as one of the most influential global Indians by men's magazine GQ India. The list was introduced in the July issue of the magazine which caters to men's lifestyle and fashion.

Dev Patel is best known for his role as Jamal Malik in Danny Boyle's film called Slumdog Millionaire. He is also widely known for his role as a British Pakistani Muslim teenager in a series called Skins. Dev has also been acclaimed for his performance in a comedy-drama film called The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.


The GQ magazine also featured British Indian novelist Salman Rushdie, singer Jay Sean, steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal and Republican Governor of Louisana Bobby Jindal, among others. These were some of the names listed in the top 50 most influential global Indians.

Dev has been chosen for his contribution to cinema and TV, said a source. The 23-year-old is a citizen of London but his origins are from India. His parents are Gujarati Hindus. Dev was interested in acting right from his school days. He constantly performed for his school productions.

In the year 2006, Dev auditioned for the drama series Skins and after two auditions, he was chosen. From then on, his acting career has been growing. Being listed in the GQ magazine along with great personalities like Salman Rushdie and Bobby Jindal is big achievement for Dev Patel.
