IPL spot-fixing is shameful: Ranbir Kapoor

By

Mumbai: Condemning the spot-fixing in IPL matches, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone today said that the act was sad and shameful. "I am not cricket fan. It is a shameful act for cricket. Three people have been arrested... All this is not a good thing. IPL is a good platform, there are so many fans... It is a disappointing, shameful act," Ranbir told reporters here at an event.

Echoing similar sentiments, Deepika said, "What has happened is a sad thing. It is shameful. Because of the mistake of one or two people, the entire sporting world gets a bad name." Deepika's father Prakash Padukone is a former badminton champion.

Ranbir and Deepika were present at the promotional event of their upcoming film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which is all set to release on May 31.

Indian pacer S Sreesanth and other two bowlers - Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan - from Rajasthan Royals team have been arrested for spot-fixing IPL matches.
