The
original
film
directed
by
Hrishikesh
Mukherjee
has
Rekha
in
the
lead
role
of
a
happy-go-lucky
girl
and
the
film
also
stars
Ashok
Kumar,
Dina
Pathak
and
Rakesh
Roshan.
The
original
film
has
won
the
1981
Filmfare
Best
Movie
Award.
Rekha
won
her
first
Filmfare
Best
Actress
Award
for
her
role
as
Manju.
"We
had
the
rights
to
the
film
and
we
took
the
character,
spirit
of
the
character
and
have
put
her
in
another
setting.
It
is
nothing
like
the
old
film
at
all.
It's
just
the
essence
and
charm
of
the
girl
that's
the
same.
She
comes
and
changes
people's
lives.
And
that
was
the
essence
of
Khubsoorat," Sonam
added.
When
asked
about
comparisons
with
Rekha,
Sonam
said,
"I
don't
worry
about
comparisons.
Since
I
am
Anil
Kapoor's
daughter,
I
always
get
compared
to
someone
or
the
other,"
she
said.
"Honestly,
the
script
of
Khubsoorat
is
extremely
contemporary.
There's
nothing
about
it
that
resembles
the
Hrishikesh
Mukherjee
film,"
said
Sonam
while
talking
about
the
film's
setting.
The
remake
is
being
produced
by
Sonam's
father,
actor
Anil
Kapoor
and
will
be
directed
by
Shashanka
Ghosh.
