Filmmakers
involving
themselves
in
political
issues
by
making
controversial
comments
are
nothing
new.
But
controversy's
own
child,
Anurag
Kashyap
has
gone
one
step
further
and
took
a
stand
which
is
not
expected
from
him
by
anyone.
Yes,
he
has
supported
Tarun
Tejpal,
the
notorious
Tehelka
editor-in-chief
who
is
in
jail
now
for
an
alleged
rape
of
a
junior
colleague
.
Anurag
trashes
the
credibility
of
the
victim's
opinion
by
saying,
"And
I
have
seen
the
CCTV
footage
too
and
none
of
what
the
girl
says
about
Tarun
Tejpal
is
true."
Anurag
posted
this
message
on
Facebook,
to
express
his
opinion
on
the
issue.
The
interesting
fact
is
that
Anurag
has
promoted
himself
as
a
feminist
for
past
5
years.
His
films,
beginning
with
Dev
D,
has
feminists
sub
themes
in
them.
While
Dev
D,
That
Girl
in
Yellow
Boots,
Gulaal
discussed
feminism
in
subtler
shades,
his
short
That
Day
After
Everybody
has
it
in
full
volume.
Such
a
comment
from
Kashyap
was
not
expected
even
when
Tarun
Tejpal
and
Shoma
Chaudhury
admitted
that
fact
that
the
victim
was
sexually
assaulted
by
Tehelka
Editor,
Tejpal.
It
should
be
noted
that
the
acclaimed
filmmaker
made
this
comment
when
the
rape
trial
is
all
set
to
star
at
Panaji
fast
track
court.
Anurag
Kashyap
also
defended
his
friend-filmmaker
Dibakar
Banerjee
when
Payal
Rohatgi
accused
him
of
behaving
in
an
indecent
manner.
