Bollywood
actress
cum
producer
Dia
Mirza
said
that
upcoming
movie
Bobby
Jasoos
under
her
production
house,
starring
Vidya
Balan
as
a
female
detective,
is
an
attempt
to
explore
an
arena
which
was
until
now
largely
dominated
by
male
actors.
"It's
true
that
women-centric
films
have
a
long
history
in
Bollywood
but
Bobby
Jasoos
centered
around
a
female
detective
attempts
to
break
into
a
domain
until
now
largely
occupied
by
male
actors," asserted
Dia
Mirza.
"Heroines
have
always
been
an
important
part
of
Indian
cinema
but
they
were
not
given
adequate
scope.
They
have
been
primarily
included
as
glamour
quotient,"
she
added.
The
actress
turned
producer
further
said
that
women-centric
films
in
Bollywood
have
mostly
been
one-sided
with
an
intense
approach
but
Bobby
Jasoos
will
offer
a
refreshing
change
as
a
wholesome
entertainer.
"We
have
viewed
women-centric
films
as
intense
subjects
and
mono-directional.
But
things
are
now
changing
as
story
tellers
have
started
making
women
leading
movies
as
wholesome
entertainers
for
everyone
to
see,"
said
the
former
Miss
Asia
Pacific.
She
added,
"I
am
very
excited
about
Bobby
Jasoos
as
a
lover
of
cinema,
as
a
maker
of
cinema
and
as
an
audience.
We
have
made
this
film
for
everyone
as
it
is
not
a
film
for
women
alone
or
women
power.
I
hope
Bobby
Jasoos
is
loved
by
men
as
much
as
women."
The
movie
Bobby
Jasoos
has
already
picked
up
interest
among
the
fans
of
'Ohh
la
la' girl
with
the
release
of
its
first
look
in
which
actress
Vidya
Balan
was
seen
in
disguise
of
a
male
beggar
with
beard
and
ragged
hair.
The
story
of
Bobby
Jasoos
revolves
around
a
female
detective
which
in
fact,
is
the
first
of
its
kind
in
Indian
cinema.
The
upcoming
flick
Bobby
Jasoos
directed
by
Samar
Shaikh
and
produced
under
banner
of
Born
Free
Entertainment,
jointly
owned
by
Dia
Mirza
and
her
boyfriend
Sahil
Sangha,
is
expected
to
release
by
the
end
of
2014.
As
a
matter
of
fact,
Bobby
Jasoos
happens
to
be
the
second
film
produced
by
Dia,
following
her
debut
as
a
producer
with
Love
Breakups
Zindagi
(2011).
