Filmfare Awards 2014: Dhanush, Vaani Kapoor Bag Best Debut Actors Awards

The year's most awaited 59th Idea Filmfare Awards was held on 24th January at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The event is hosted by Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor.

South superstar Dhanush, who made his debut in Bollywood with Raanjhanaa has been awarded with 59th Idea Filmfare Best Debut Actor (Male) Award. Newbie Vaani Kapoor bagged Best Debut (Female) Award for Shuddh Desi Romance.

Dhanush's performance in Raanjhanaa was much appreciated. Though he was famous in South, he was accepted by Bollywood audience too. Raanjhanaa is a romantic drama film, directed by Anand L. Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma. The film produced by Krishika Lulla under the banner Eros International, starred Dhanush, Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol in lead roles.

After being awarded with Filmfare Best Debut Male Award, Dhanush said, "I have done 25 films and this is my first debut award."

Vaani Kapoor debuted with Yash Raj in their YRF series called 'Rajuben' as Shilpa Shuklas (rajubens) daughter. She has signed a three movie deal with Yash Raj Films. Her debut film Shuddh Desi Romance received positive reviews. She has Tamil-Telugu remake of Band Baaja Baraat.
