The
Gulaab
Gang
film
makers
on
Thursday
moved
the
Delhi
High
Court
against
the
suspension
of
the
release
of
the
movie
but
finally
it
got
the
clearance.
The
film
is
based
on
the
real
life
activist
Sampat
Pal
Devi,
who
formed
Gulaabi
Gang,
a
group
of
pink
sari
clad
women
vigilantes
in
Uttar
Pradesh.
The
movie
was
due
to
release
on
Friday
starring
Madhuri
Dixit
and
Juhi
Chawla.
The
film
makers
approached
the
division
bench
of
Acting
Chief
Justice
BD
Ahmed
and
Justice
Siddharth
Mridul,
to
hear
out
their
plea.
The
High
Court
earlier
restricted
from
releasing
Gulaab
Gang
stating
that
the
movie
would
damage
the
reputation
of
Sampat
Pal
Devi.
The
movie
is
directed
by
debutant
Soumik
Sen,
and
the
film
has
been
produced
by
Anubhav
Sinha.
The
High
Court
agreed
to
release
the
film
Gulaab
Gang.
The
Gulaab
Gang
team
must
be
overjoyed.
Sampat
Pal
Devi
moved
the
High
Court
seeking
a
restraining
order
on
the
release
of
Gulaab
Gang,
saying
the
filmmakers
did
not
take
permission
from
her
before
starting
this
project.
She
also
said
that
the
movie
depicts
her
in
bad
light
and
she
alleged
that
the
trailer
of
the
movie
shown
would
affect
her
reputation.
According
to
her,
the
depiction
of
her
character
in
the
movie
is
like
an
anti
social
element
which
is
not
true
when
compared
to
real
life.But
as
Delhi
High
Court
has
cleared
the
releasing
date
of
the
movie
and
it
releases
today.
