Noted singer Sonu Nigam says he is happy for Babul Supriyo, who has turned politician and became a minister in central government, but rejected the idea of him joining politics in the near future.

"I am very happy for him. Babul has seen tough times in his life... I'm happy to see that he has taken this path (of politics) and has become a minister now," Nigam, 41, said during his recent visit to the national capital.

Supriyo, who voiced popular songs in films like 'Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, 'Hum Tum' among others, was on Sunday inducted as Minister of State for Urban Development, Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation in the Narendra Modi government after he won the Lok Sabha election from Asansol constituency in West Bengal.

Asked if he also intends to take the political recourse like Supriyo, the national-award winning vocalist said, "As for myself, I don't see myself there. I don't even think I am made for politics or maybe politics is not made for me."

"I can't go to the parliament and shout like they are shown at times," he said.

The 'Panchhi Nadiyan' hitmaker said he wants to stay in peace and rather take up social services to work for people instead of joining politics.

"I'd rather prefer to take up social services to work for people but certainly not politics. I like to keep my life simple and peaceful. I don't want to lose the peace," he said.

Talking about his latest number, the title track from the upcoming Yash Raj flick 'Kill Dil', Nigam said, "I'm hoping that the film does well and people keep liking the song."
