Bollywood
celebrities
Javed
Akhtar
and
Shabana
Azami
decided
not
to
cast
their
votes
and
chose
to
attend
IIFA
awards
function
in
US.
For
a
couple
who
always
talk
about
working
for
social
and
political
causes,
how
could
they
skip
the
biggest
celebration
of
Indian
democracy?
Akhtar
is
in
fact
a
sitting
Rajya
Sabha
MP
while
actress
Shabana
Azmi
is
an
ex-member
of
the
Upper
House
yet
they
didn't
choose
to
be
a
part
of
our
democracy.
While
their
son
Farhan,
who
is
co-hosting
the
entire
award
function
with
Shahid
Kapoor
stayed
back
to
cast
his
vote
before
leaving
for
Tampa
Bay.
Several
Bollywood
stars
like
Anil
Kapoor,
Hrithik
Roshan,
Shahid
Kapoor,
Saif
Ali
Khan
and
Kareena
Kapoor
also
skipped
voting
to
attend
IIFA
2014.
IIFA
is
a
four-day-long
award
ceremony,
so
it
feels
sad
to
know
that
the
celebrities
could
not
miss
one
day
of
the
event
for
their
country.
The
ones
who
proudly
cast
their
votes
were
Amitabh
Bachchan
and
family,
Shah
Rukh
Khan,
Farhan
Akhtar,
Aamir
Khan,
Ajay
Devgan,
Vidya
Balan
and
Preity
Zinta.
Preity
in
fact
flew
down
from
Abu
Dhabi
to
exercise
her
voting
right.
Kangana
Ranaut
and
Subhash
Ghai
took
a
break
from
promoting
their
films
to
cast
their
votes.
Sonam
Kapoor
flaunted
her
inked
finger
on
twitter
but
her
father
Anil
Kapoor
is
busy
attending
IIFA.
There
was
a
big
clash
of
IIFA
2014
with
Mumbai's
voting
day.
It
would
have
been
great
if
the
organizers
had
enough
sense
to
schedule
their
event
later
and
give
more
priority
to
our
country.
