Mary Kom Biopic Release Date Out!

Mary Kom the biopic about the famous Olympic medal-winner boxer is finally getting released on Oct 2, celebrated as Gandhi Jayanthi across the country every year.

Viacom18 Motion Pictures Wednesday announced the release date of the film, which stars Priyanka Chopra in the title role. Taking forward the phenomenal success of Queen, the studio has also announced that its action thriller Gabbar, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Shruti Hassan and directed by Krish, will release on Jan 23, 2015, co-inciding with the Republic Day weekend.

"What fascinates me about her is that I wanted to tell the story of real Mary," the actress said, adding that the story about the female sportswoman has never been told through the medium of films in India. Although Mary is a boxer, she is a typical girl who wears nail paint beneath her boxing gloves, Chopra said. "She loves singing, watching movies and everything that a girl likes," Priyanka said earlier.

"Her story is same as that of mine. I too struggled when I came in the industry and cried alone. It is basically the story of every girl, who has a dream," Chopra said.

The project is directed by Omung Kumar and very much awaited by the fans of both Mary Kom and Piggy Chops!
