EXCLUSIVE: Sonam Kapoor And Fawad Khan's Khoobsurat Interview
Sonam Kapoor was recently in the city along with co-actor Fawad Khan to promote their movie Khoobsurat. The actress was happy to be in Bangalore and was elated with the city's greenery and good weather.
Her father first debuted in acting with a Kannada film called Pallavi Anu Pallavi, when asked if she watched the film, the actress replied that she hasn't because she was not able to retrieve it and very soon she will watch the film. Her father is a frequent visitor to Bangalore and so is the actress.
Speaking about the movie the actress said that the idea of making the movie was her sister, Rhea's. Sonam said, "Khoobsurat is a movie Shashank and my sister wanted to make because they wanted a Rishikesh Mukherjee vibe in the industry because the films are simple and entertaining and easy for the family to watch. There are very few films these days which a 6 year old kid and a 60 year old person can watch together. This is a sweet love story which will be loved by all."
Speaking about her role in the movie she said, " I am the royal misfit in the film, I am extremely inappropriate person who wears weird clothes and behaves weirdly in the movie."
Sonam feels that there are either dark films with an intense story being made or a commercial potboiler which has no story and that was one of the major reasons why she and her sister wanted to do this movie, which is so light on the eyes."
Sonam and Fawad, both had fun during their visit to Bangalore, if Fawad was impressed with big roads, the pretty damsel was busy noticing the good looking people in the city. Read further to know what I am talking about.

How Do Feel Coming To Bangalore?
Sonam Kapoor: I love it here, there is a lot of greenery and nice big roads. My professional visits may have been restricted to just movies but I often come here on personal visits. There are a lot of health farms here that I go to.
Anything Special About Bangalore?
Sonam Kapoor: Oh Yes! There are many good looking men here. I think Bangalore people are very good looking.
Sonam Kapoor: Your Father, Anil Kapoor Debuted In Kannada, Have You Watched The Film?
No, I haven't! I have not seen much of my father's movies especially that one because I don't know where to retrieve it from but I really wanted to watch Pallavi Anu Pallavi and so recently when I met Mani Ratnam sir I even asked him a copy as it is very difficult for me to get the movie online, since its quite old.
One Quality Of Fawad Khan That You Like?
Sonam Kapoor: He is really respectful towards people and that's a rare quality these days. People can be quite harsh and they are not nice to other people anymore. People seem nice but they are not and this is everywhere you know? From corporate to media and movies. My grandma says this is Kalyug and Fawad is just not like that, he can never be harsh to someone or say something to insult people.
How Close You Are To Your On-Screen Character In Khoobsurat?
Sonam Kapoor: I think very close, in a lot of ways we are similar. Like, I do believe in myself and I believe if someone loves you then they should love you for who are and should not try to change you. I believe there has to be a certain self confidence in a person and a lot of values that Milli endorses in the film are the values I endorse as well.
How Different Is Film Making In Pakistan To Film Making In India?
Fawad Khan: I think the basic mechanics are quite same but I don't know how exactly I should comment on this because I have done a film after a long hiatus, my last film was in 2000 and this is my first movie in India. Best I can compare this is with the television industry and between these two there are many differences. In serial we have 600 pages script to tell a story where as in film we just have an hour or more to tell our story in the most condensed way possible.
Who Is Your Inspiration Or Role Model In Acting?
Fawad Khan: Marlon Brando and so many, from India the actors that I really admire in this day and age, actors' whose work I really admire is Irrfan khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and amongst the guys everyone is doing good work but someone whose work I see at a high level... then... Actually I feel Maqbool and Omkara were great films. That pretty much conveys my preferences in movies but hacing said that, I like what Ranbir Kapoor has been doing as well.
Is There Any Other Actress Apart From Sonam Kapoor Who You Would Like To Work With?
Fawad Khan: Wow, hmmm... everyone is great from Kareena Kapoor to Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt, the list keeps going on and on. Everyone has been giving such amazing performances but if there is one actress who has left me spell bound me with their work and the way she performs is Manisha Koirala. I have really liked and enjoyed her performances.
Do You Think You Have Any Minus Points In You That You Would Like To Work On?
Fawad Khan: Well dancing is one of the major minus points in me. My memory is another one, I mean my visual memory is not that good. What ever I read, I remember it for a very short time but I can't remember things for long.
Sonam Kapoor's Plus Points?
Fawad Khan: She speaks her heart, and that is any person's plus point and that is what I look forward to in people that I meet, that they should be honest and nice. Sonam is exactly that, she is very honest.
