This Is What Nargis Fakhri Said About The Pakistani Ad That Sparked Outrage!

The bombshell of Bollywood, Nargis Fakhri, has been caught in a weird controversy as her advertisement appeared on the front page of a leading Pakistani Urdu newspaper named Jang. The advert was for a mobile phone brand.

Nargis Fakhri, is simply lying down, wearing a red dress and showing a mobile phone. There is nothing in the advertisement to draw a controversy, and by all standards is a fair and decent advert.

However, a lot of journalists in Pakistan took to Twitter and called Nargis Fakhri's advertisement as 'cheap', 'absurd' and 'obscenity'.

Pakistani journalist, Ansar Abbasi, was the first to show his disappointment about the ad, and tweeted as, "My strong protest to top jang group management for this absurd front page ad in today's jang."

Other readers too joined in the ridiculous bandwagon, and tweeted their disgust at the advertisement.

"@NargisFakhri I am a big fan of yours & a loyal #mobilink customer. Trust me I am disgusted to see this print ad" tweeted Mehwish Rafi.

Nargis Fakhri, replied to the tweet of @Mehwish_Rafi by saying "@Mehwish_Rafi why disgusted?" and a series of other tweets followed in.

After seeing too many reactions, Nargis Fakhri finally reacted to the outrage by saying,

"I've been with Mobilink as their brand ambassador for the last 3 years and there has never been an issue like this. I was unaware that they would consider using this visual for a mainstream newspaper ad - an Urdu daily as it was never meant to be."

Nargis Fakhri, continued as saying,

"As a model or celebrity, I have always believed in using my persona to help further a brand's communication but never to have it used where I end up being objectified for my looks. Culturally too, my team and I are aware and respectful of what visuals work for what mediums, markets and audiences and hence given the brand's firm penetration in the Pakistan market, we left it upto their expertise to use the images appropriately."
