Karan Johar is basking in the success of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil these days. The movie has given Karan a prestigious entry to Bollywood's 100 Crores club. But did you know that Karan would not have made ADHM if Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would have said 'no' to the role of Saba?
In an interview to a channel, Karan Johar said, "Sabse indispensable casting thi Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ki hai. Aishwarya was the most indispensable casting for the movie. If Ranbir would have said a no I had a solution, If Anushka would have turned it down, I had an option. But for Aishwarya I never had an option. If she would have turned it down, I wouldn't have made ADHM. Only Aishwarya could have done Saba."
In another interview, Karan Johar had said that he knew the dignity Aishwarya brings to every character and that's why he approached her for this role. Read it below.
I Knew The Dignity That Aish Brings To Every Character: Karan
"She is clear about her decisions. I knew the dignity that Aishwarya brings to every character. So, you don't look at it and question about supposed lack of decency as it's always elegant. To me this is the woman who knows herself and they (scenes) have to be done in certain way.''
What Aishwarya Said About Her Role & Her Comfort Level With Karan
"It is about comfort level with my director. We know how the journey of the film would be. It wasn't (worrying). I know my character well. There was calm and ease after working for so long."
Saba's Character Done In A Classy Way: Aish
"Today I have worked, I know the overview. It is about how you approach a character and doing that is relevant to times from 20 years ago. It is done in a classy way. It is not frivolous sensuality on screen.''
Karan On Aishwarya's Character Saba In ADHM
''She is a poetess in the film. She is a woman of substance in every which way. She knows her mind and heart. We were honest to the film and the story. Not for a second I was apologetic about it.''
