Esha Gupta is all set to woo her fans with her grey character in the movie Rustom. The diva, who is super excited about the film, said that Rustom was like a birthday gift for her.
In an interview to TOI, Esha Gupta said, ''I got a call on my birthday last year from my casting director. She told me that she has an exciting project with Akshay Kumar and that it's a grey character. When she said it was a role with negative shades, I knew I wouldn't be paired opposite him.''
Esha Gupta further added, ''But I liked the idea of doing something different. So, I met director Tinu sir (Tinu Suresh Desai) for a narration. I liked what I heard because the character was intense. Priti Makhija makes Akshay's life messy and ensures that he can't breathe peacefully even for a second. In a way, this movie is like a birthday gift for me.''
Talking about her negative role, she said, ''It is far more challenging and fun. I've always looked up to Priyanka Chopra and loved how she took up Aitraaz right at the beginning of her career and was even praised for her act. It was a huge risk. Usually, a lot of mainstream actresses think twice before playing the vamp. In my earlier films, I got all the sympathies. But with this movie, I want people to say that they loved Esha's acting, but hated Priti Makhija because she was badass.''
