Salman Khan minted major moolah last year with back to back hit films and popular reality shows and huge endorsement deals. This money minting machine has become the highest tax payer in Bollywood.
Salman has beaten Akshay Kumar, Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor to become the top tax payer in Bollywood and one of the highest tax payer in the country.
Salman Khan has paid Rs 20 crores as advance tax in 2015.
Akshay Kumar has paid an advance tax od Rs 16.5 crores in 2015.
Ranbir Kapoor, whose film, Bombay Velvet tanked at the box office has paid Rs 15 crore as advance tax.
Shahrukh, who had success with Dilwale in 2015 paid Rs 14 crores.
Amitabh Bachchan paid Rs 8.75 crore has he acted in string of movies like Piku and Wazir in 2015.
Advance tax is paid by individuals if the total tax liability on their estimated income is likely to exceed Rs 10,000 during the financial year. This tax liability is calculated after considering tax deducted at source (TDS), stated Financial Express.
And the actor has paid a whopping sum of Rs 20 crores as advance tax, so one can only try and imagine what the actual figure of tax would be for him.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan garnered over Rs 600 crore worldwide while Prem Ratan Dhan Payo made Rs 200 crore.
Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are the other top tax payers in the list.
These figures were released by Mumbai's IT department for third quarter (Till December 31, 2015). The last quarter (Jan to March) will decide who will be the highest income tax payer of the year.
From the looks of it, Salman Khan being the highest advance tax payer which is 30% of the total tax tells us that he is most likely to top the list of highest tax payers.
