Initially Haraamkhor was banned for its 'provocative' content. However, later FCAT passed a judgement and let the film release owing to the social responsibility which carries a positive message for girls to be aware of their rights.

Talking about the film, the director Shlok Sharma said, "It was indeed very challenging to finish an entire feature film's shoot in 16 days. That's why the team's role was the most crucial. My lead actors- Nawaz Bhai and Shweta were spot on. So was the crew. Siddharth, my DOP, and his team, along with the production team were all absolutely in tandem. There was no way this would have been possible without the team I had behind me."

The film is slated to clash with Aditya Roy Kapur- Shraddha Kapoor's OK Jaanu at the box office on 13th January 2017.
