Dear Saif Ali Khan,
Greetings Sir. I received a letter from you in the morning. Although it stated whomsoever it concerned, let us be honest, it was clearly media's concern. To be specific, all of us dealing with the entertainment industry.
The easiest way these days to brush off a situation is to blame it on the media. Anything bizarre happens in your world and suddenly we are the guilty ones. But this time, we refuse to be a victim of this 'I Am Innocent - They Did it' game. We DID NOT INSULT KANGANA RANAUT. YOU DID. Please read that again.
Media reported what you said. People heard what you said. There is a clear line between joke and insult.
Now let me enlighten you with some basic rules of joking and humour.
A. You joke about people who you are friends with or at least comfortable. You clearly aren't with Kangana. At least that is what we saw.
B. You joke about people you are acquaintances with, ONLY if they are round. If you are making fun of them behind their back it is called BITCHING!
Now coming to your open letter where you clearly elaborated about nepotism and it's connection to genes. I just hope you could figure out that it was not about nepotism any more. It was about insulting an actor, at an award show, meant to honour and recognise actors and their talents.
Just to remind you AGAIN, it was not a 'Koffee with Karan' episode you were shooting for. It was an award show. It was meant to acknowledge your or any other actors contribution towards his or her work.
Also, as much as you blame us for giving birth to nepotism, then I bet you are fully responsible for the reason people ridicule award shows these days.
Now coming to your apology, which you think is none other's business since you apologised to Kangana over a phone call. Just to make it clear, you didn't insult her over a phone call. You did it on air, in front of a million viewers and fans.
You insulted a National Award winner, who made her mark from the scratch, in front of people, at an award show, I REPEAT - an award show which was meant to honour acting talents. Too much hypocrisy to handle!
Also you kept enlightening us with your brilliant vocabulary about eugenics and two days later, you feel like talking about an apology stating that people don't do it on social media. While Varun Dhawan, immediately issued an apology on social media! So basically, you very comfortably chose to shun him knowingly or unknowingly!
Now coming to the last part of your letter which claims that media is responsible for nepotism and we jump at Abram, Misha or Taimur. Then let me be honest with you, it is all your fans want. They love you, want to read about you, your life, your work.
The only point in your letter worth agreeing is that it is a vicious circle. Yes it is. But we find ways to escape it. But we still know the difference between humiliation, insult and joke. Now talking about ways, the best way you could have escaped this whole situation was by using a single word - Just Joking.
After you made the weird joke you would have brush it off with Just Joking Kangana. Or at least you could have mentioned her name with respect or just a line to admire her work.
Because honestly she is the best of the lot. Couldn't you think of something sane like this after cracking a lame joke at an event which by the way was backing woman empowerment this year. *Slow Claps*
Now, I know that you will not go through such a long letter. But if you have made it till here, then, all the best for your upcoming releases Kaalakandi, Bazaar and Chef. Because I still admire your work as an actor and will always look forward to it. Genetic or not, but you are brilliant with your work.
Also, I think I should not have written this because I took a note from the last line of your letter - Never complain and never explain.
Never mind, you won't bother!
