Vikram Bhatt: Money Is In The Multiplexes & Not In Single Screens Anymore!
The single screen theatres are losing business every passing day as the audiences prefer multiplexers. Vikram Bhatt opened up about the issue of multiplexes vs single screen theatres.
Gone
are
the
days
where
single
screen
theatres
called
the
shots
on
newly
released
films,
and
now,
things
have
taken
a
drastic
turn
making
the
theatres'
business
go
on
a
downward
spiral
as
multiplexes
have
eaten
all
their
share
in
terms
of
business.
Film-maker
Vikram
Bhatt
opened
up
about
the
issue
by
saying
that
money
is
in
the
multiplexes
and
not
in
single
screens
anymore.
He
said,
"There
is
this
problem
but
it
is
not
only
with
horror.
Every
film
is
facing
this
problem.
More
and
more
films
are
being
made
for
Mumbai
and
Delhi.
The
heart
of
India
is
generally
being
ignored.
We
have
left
the
single
screens
behind.
Now,
for
a
film-maker
like
me,
who
wants
to
adhere
to
both
kinds
of
audience,
it
will
become
impossible
to
make
a
film
and
I
end
up
making
a
film
for
the
multiplexes
because
that
is
where
the
money
is."
When
asked
if
there's
a
solution
to
help
single
screen
theatres
to
get
back
to
its
glory
days,
he
said,
"There
is
no
solution
to
it.
It
has
become
a
tale
of
two
countries.
India
is
divided
in
cities
-
basically
Bombay,
Delhi,
Bangalore
and
pockets
of
Ahmedabad,
Surat
and
Chandigarh.
Unfortunately,
very
few
are
making
decision
for
too
many
and
that's
where
our
money
is."
The
director
summed
it
up
by
saying,
"If
you
want
to
make
films
for
money,
you
have
to
make
it
for
multiplexes."
What
do
you
guys
feel?
Is
there
a
way
out
for
the
single
screen
theatres
to
be
back
in
profit?
