In
the
last
few
years,
Bollywood
has
seen
an
overwhelming
number
of
biopics.
Some
struck
gold,
others
missed
the
bull's
eye.
The
recent
massive
success
of
Ranbir
Kapoor
starrer
Sanju
has
made
many
filmmakers
opt
for
real-life
stories
when
it
comes
to
celluloid.
But
this
trend
is
not
just
restricted
to
biopics.
Bollywood
is
in
no
mood
to
slow
down
when
it
comes
to
period
films
as
well.
Karan
Johar
has
Kalank,
Takht
and
Rannbhoomi
coming
up
next.
Kangana
Ranaut
will
be
seen
in
'Manikarnika:
The
Queen
Of
Jhansi'.
Akshay
Kumar's
Kesari
is
based
on
897
Battle
of
Saragarhi.
Ajay
Devgn
will
be
stepping
into
Tanaji
Malusare's
shoes,
Ashutosh
Gowarikar
is
calling
the
shots
with
Panipat.
Phew,
these
are
just
few
names!
When
we
caught
up
with
writer-director
Habib
Faisal
who
helmed
films
like
Ishaqzaade,
Do
Dooni
Char,
Qaidi
Band
and
more
recently
stepped
into
the
web
space
with
'Home',
we
couldn't
resist
ourselves
from
asking
him
about
this
growing
trend.
Here's
what
the
filmmaker
exclusively
told
us.
The
Herd
Mentality
Has
Always
Been
There
Habib
told
Filmibeat,
"We
have
always
been
following
the
herd
mentality.
Today,
there's
a
growing
trend
of
biopics,
sports
drama.
Next,
there
might
be
something
else."
It's
Not
New
Citing
the
example
of
Amar,
Akbar
and
Anthony,
Habib
said,
"A
film
on
three
brothers
getting
separated
got
made.
After
that,
so
many
films
followed
the
same
template.
Manmohan
Desai
himself
made
so
many
of
them.
"
Not
Just
Bollywood,
The
Trend
Exists
In
Hollywood
As
Well
"Not
just
in
India,
this
trend
is
growing
even
in
Hollywood.
They
have
individual
super
hero
films.
Then,
they
bring
them
together
and
make
an
Avengers
series.
Formula
is
not
just
restricted
to
film-making.
It's
the
go-to
thing
in
every
field."
'Safe
Players
Will
Follow
The
Rule'
"Anything
that
requires
money
to
be
invested
and
returns
to
be
got,
the
safe
players
will
follow
the
formula
and
then,
there
are
those
who
will
break
them.
So
when
that's
broken,
there
will
be
whole
lot
of
people
who
will
ape
those.
At
times,
the
formula
breakers
succeed
and
at
times,
they
don't."

you
folks

Faisal's
