Kerala Relief Fund: Rohit Shetty Donates Rs 21 Lakh
Kerala Relief Fund: Rohit Shetty was in Argentina all this while with regards to work and as soon as he came to India, the film-maker donated Rs 21 Lakh towards the cause.
The
heavy
downpour
in
Kerala
caused
havoc
all
across
the
state
and
close
to
300
people
lost
their
lives
and
thousands
of
people
were
left
homeless
and
living
in
relief
camps.
Several
celebrities
donated
money
to
the
relief
work
and
even
urged
their
fans
to
contribute
for
a
cause.
The
latest
to
help
is
Rohit
Shetty
and
the
film-maker
has
donated
Rs
21
lakh
towards
the
Kerala
relief
fund.
The
director
was
in
Argentina,
with
regards
to
work,
and
donated
the
amount
as
soon
as
he
reached
India.
Rohit
Shetty
has
always
been
lending
a
helping
hand
to
people
since
many
years
now
and
has
been
supporting
cancer
patients
and
other
organisations
in
the
county.
He
stays
in
constant
touch
with
several
NGOs
and
helps
the
less-privileged
when
required.
A
source
close
to
the
film-maker
opened
up
to
Filmfare
by
saying,
"For
a
few
years
now,
Rohit
has
been
actively
supporting
cancer
patients
and
girls'
education.
His
office
stays
in
touch
with
certain
office-bearers
from
charitable
organisations
and
hospitals
who
treat
the
less-privileged.
He
asks
his
trusted
team
to
make
him
aware
of
how
much
money
is
needed
to
help
patients
who
can't
afford
treatments.
The
same
holds
true
for
education
of
children."
The
source
further
commented,
"Of
course,
the
latest
cause
he
chose
to
associate
with
is
the
Kerala
flood
relief
work.
The
filmmaker
knew
he
had
to
extend
his
support
to
those
affected
in
his
own
way.
He
did
that
quietly
without
letting
anyone
know."
Also,
Bollywood
stars
such
as
Shahrukh
Khan,
Akshay
Kumar,
Hrithik
Roshan,
Amitabh
Bachchan,
Esha
Gupta,
Randeep
Hooda
and
several
others
have
donated
generously
to
the
Kerala
flood
relief
and
it's
good
to
see
our
very
own
stars
lending
a
helping
hand
to
the
people
who
are
affected.
In
fact,
the
Sarbjit
actor
Randeep
Hooda
was
on
the
ground
in
Kerala
through
the
Khalsa
Aid
foundation
and
served
food
to
the
people
in
the
relief
camps.
