After charming the audience with her popular TV shows, Mouni Roy is all set to make her debut in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar starrer Gold, which hits the big screens next week. The film has Mouni playing Akshay's wife and going by the trailer and songs, we must say they share some amazing chemistry on-screen.
Talking about team Gold, Mouni said, "It is a dream come true to do a movie with these superlative people."
While speaking about Akshay Kumar, the actress added, "Akshay is not just a great co-actor but he is also a beautiful human being, He always use to keep the environment on the sets very light-hearted. There is no hierarchy on the set. He treats everyone equally, whether a person is the director of the film or a spot boy. But when it comes to scenes he is sincere in every single shot. When you see him in action you realize why he is where he is."
Meanwhile, Akshay recently called Tapan Das his most interesting character till date. In Gold, he plays the role of a hockey coach who trains team India to win its first gold medal as a free nation at the 1948 Olympics in field hockey. From the film's trailer and songs, Tapan Das comes across as a diligent but funny man. However, Akshay Kumar says, "Tapan is not a goofy or humorous character, it is his quirks that makes the scene funny."
Sharing details about Tapan's character's inspiration, director Reema Kagti said, "The person who inspired his character is very controversial, alcoholic, unpopular and argumentative but at the same time he knows the game really well."
Earlier in an interview, Akshay had said that it's frivolous to compare Gold with Shahrukh Khan's Chak De! India, which was also based on hockey. The superstar was quoted as saying, " Everything will be a competition. For me, it is all about doing a good film. Chak De... was a different story, Gold is different. It is frivolous to even think like that or competing with that film. Don't compare it, it is all different."
Talking about why he chose to take up the film, he quipped, "He is a controversial guy. He is a drunk and a cheater. But within a year, he brought 11 people together, made a team and went for Olympics, won the gold medal. I felt this story was unbelievable and needed to be told."
