Sonali Bendre's 'Unconventional' Diwali: Actress Shares Pictures; Says It Was All Hearts!

After being diagnosed with cancer, Sonali Bendre flew to New York to undergo medical treatment for the same. The actress may be battling the life-threatening disease, but that doesn't stop her from celebrating each day with love and positivity. Despite all the odds, Sonali managed to celebrate Diwali this year with her hubby Goldie Behl and son Ranveer in the Big Apple. Later, the actress took to her Instagram page to share few pictures from her low-key Diwali celebrations.

Sonali's Unconventional Diwali

Sonali shared a series of photos and captioned them as, "Diwali in New York happens much later than in Mumbai... Hence the late wish! It was quite an unconventional one... We didn't have Indian clothes, we had a small puja... But it was all heart."

She further wrote, "Happy Diwali everyone! May this year bring you good health, wealth and prosperity... Hope you celebrated this festival with your family and friends, and hope you cherish every moment of happiness with them!"

A Family That Poses Together

Sonali was diagnosed with metastatic cancer in July and has been undergoing medical treatment in New York since then. The actress had opened up about her illness in an Instagram post that read, I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them."

Sometime back, her husband Goldie Behl had shared update about Sonali's health and tweeted, "Thank you all for the love and support for Sonali. She is stable and is following her treatment without any complications. This is a long journey but we have begun positively."

Many of our Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar had paid a visit to Sonali in NYC. A few days ago, her long-time friend Namrata Shirodkar too had visited her and was later quoted as saying to Deccan Chronicle, "She is a strong girl. She looks amazingly fit and ready to get back to normal life."
