Sridevi's Tribute Video Shown At The IIFA 2018 Plagiarised? Boney Kapoor Locks Horns With A Fan!
Tribute video for Sridevi at the IIFA Awards 2018 was made by a fan in March 2018, and Boney Kapoor and IIFA used it without the maker's permission and didn't even acknowledge the hard work.

An emotional and touching video was played at the IIFA Awards 2018 paying tribute to Sridevi, and was appreciated by a lot of fans, as the video looked flawless and perfect. However, one particular fan named Saba Arif got the shock of her life when she saw the tribute video on television and realised that it was indeed her mash-up video that was being played at the IIFA. It was basically a well-done fan tribute video and she's now accusing Boney Kapoor and the IIFA for using her tribute video without permission and acknowledgement.
Saba Arif took to Facebook, accusing Boney and IIFA, for ripping off her video and made a lengthy post by saying, "It's so heartbreaking when something you've worked on gets ripped off and passed off as someone else's work. I just happened to turn on the TV to watch the IIFA awards last night and I got the rude shock of having MY video played on the show without my permission! To see the entire film fraternity tearing up after having watched the video that I made might have been the biggest privilege of my career, if it hadn't been for the fact that they didn't acknowledge me at all for having made it."
The Video Is Mine, Says Sridevi's Fan
HT reached out to Sridevi's fan, Saba Arif regarding the issue and here's what she had to say. "I am a huge fan of Sridevi and her demise came as a shock to me. I love Sridevi, and thus decided to make this video in March. Something I felt that other fans would love to watch. Watching it being used with just a few alterations during the IIFA Awards show was shocking, to say the least. Nobody from the company had contacted me, and nobody even bothered to acknowledge that the video was, indeed, a creation of mine."
Now, Boney Kapoor Speaks Up!
Late Sridevi's husband Boney Kapoor has a different take on the issue and cited that the clips in the video are his own and belongs to Yash Raj Films. "Almost all of the clips in the video are owned by me or Yash Raj Films. Thus, giving us the right to use them as we like. The video was approved by me for IIFA, after a discussion with YRF, and I'd like to know what gives her (Saba Arif) the right to claim it as her own. If she has a problem with the video, she should reach out to me rather than just make such accusations."
Saba Arif Responds To Boney Kapoor
"Sure, the clips are his to own. But I put my heart and soul into this video - it took my three days to make it. They didn't change the sequences of the clips or the song(s), and the fact that I had put all that together makes the concept my intellectual property."
She Further Stated...
"This was never about the same clips being used, but about my hard work being taken for such a show without any acknowledgement. It is still my video, and I'd like to be acknowledged for the same. I'm just surprised by this reaction to my post."

Sridevi fan, Saba Arif is getting a lot of positive response from the online community and several of them demand that she be acknowledged for her work, as the tribute video is pure class and takes a lot of hard work to mash-up something like that.
