Ranbir Kapoor's Sanju showcased the life of Sanjay Dutt with all his flaws, goodness, ups and downs in life and almost every actor would have dreamt to star in the movie after watching how amazingly it was shown on the silver screen by film-maker Rajkumar Hirani. Also, the Accidental Prime Minister actor, Akshaye Khanna was approached to star in the movie by the director, but, unfortunately, Akshaye Khanna let it slip away from his hands as he failed in the 'look test' despite numerous attempts.

"Rajkumar Hirani and I had a couple of meetings (for Sanju). In spite of innumerable ‘look tests', I was a misfit in that character. So I missed out on working with him in the biopic," said Akshaye Khanna to Deccan Chronicle.

"I feel sad at not being able to work in Sanju after being bestowed upon with a chance to be the part of the film. He (Rajkumar Hirani) is such an incredible and brilliant story teller," Akshaye adds.
