72 Hoorain: Mumbai Man Files Complaint Against Makers For Allegedly Insulting Islam

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's directorial 72 Hoorain has been one of the most talked about movies these days. The movie is said to hit the theatres on July 7 and features Pavan Malhotra and Aamir Bashir in prominent roles. Interestingly, 72 Hoorain has been mired in controversies ever since the first teaser was released.
And while the movie is inching close to its theatrical release, 72 Hoorain has landed in another trouble as a Mumbai based man has filed a complaint against the makers including makers Ashoke Pandit for allegedly insulting Islam and promoting communal disharmony.
According to a report published in ANI, a man named Saiyad Arifali Mahemmodali filed a complain in Goregaon police station for disrespecting Islam. "A man, Saiyad Arifali Mahemmodali files a complaint at Goregaon Police Station against the director and producer of the film, 72 Hoorain for "insulting and disrespecting his religion, promoting communal disharmony, discrimination, hatred and maligning the image of the Muslim community amongst public," ANI tweeted.
It is reported that the FIR was registered under sections 153A, 153B, 295 A, 298, 500, 505(2) of the IPC. "Since the censor board has already cleared the movie, there is very little that we can do at this stage," a police official was quoted saying
Earlier, the movie was labelled as a propaganda and has left everyone brimming with an opinion. In fact, CBFC even rejected the censor certificate for the trailer of the movie. However, producer Ashoke Pandit reacted to the allegations and said, "How can you say that these films are propaganda? Do you think the lakhs of people who went to watch these films in theatres are fools? And only the ones sitting on juries are intelligent? You can say that you didn't like the film but don't label it as propaganda. We also have our freedom of expression. You can make a film that you want to. I was the first person to support Udta Punjab."
