In a shocking turn of events, veteran actor-filmmaker Satish Kaushik is no more. Best known for playing the role of Calendar in Anil Kapoor and Sridevi's iconic film Mr. India, he reportedly breathed his last in Delhi on the way to hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Actor Anupam Kher, who was also his best friend, confirmed the news of his death on social media. In a heartfelt message, Kher expressed his disbelief at the sudden loss of his close friend of 45 years and stated that life would never be the same without Satish Kaushik.

Bidding him an emotional goodbye, Anupam Kher wrote, "I know that death is the ultimate truth of this world! But I had not thought even in my wildest dreams that I would write this thing about my best friend someday. Such a sudden full stop to a friendship of 45 years!! Life will NEVER be the same without you SATISH!"

Satish Kaushik was a multi-talented individual who excelled in various fields such as acting, directing, producing, screenwriting, and comedy. He was an alumnus of both the National School of Drama and the Film and Television Institute of India and began his career in theatre.

SATISH KAUSHIK'S CAREER IN SHOWBIZ

Throughout his illustrious career, he starred in several noteworthy films, including Mr. India, Deewana Mastana, Saajan Chale Sasural, and many more. In addition, he also directed a number of acclaimed films such as Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja, Prem, Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain, and Tere Naam, among others.

For his performances in Ram Lakhan (1990) and Saajan Chale Sasural (1997), Satish Kaushik won the Filmfare Best Comedian Award.

In Kangana Ranaut's much-awaited film Emergency, the veteran actor was set to play the role of Jagjivan Ram, a freedom fighter and former deputy prime minister.

He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
