'Ban Adipurush': All India Cine Association Writes To PM Modi, Demands FIR Against Makers

AICWA Seeks Ban On Om Raut’s Adipurush; Writes To PM

AICWA Seeks Ban On Adipurush: Om Raut's latest offering, Adipurush has been mired in controversies since the day of its release. Touted as modern-day Ramayana, the film is said to have Hindu sentiments through the 'distorted depiction of Lord Ram' and it's 'cringe-worthy' dialogues.

While 'Ban Adipurush' trended a big time on social media, the AICWA has now written an open letter to PM Narendra Modi to issue an immediate order to stop the screening of the film.

Sharing the letter, ANI wrote on Twitter, "All India Cine Workers Association have written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting him to "stop screening the movie and immediately order a ban of Adipurush screening in the theatres and OTT platforms in the future."

The letter by AICWA also states, "We need FIR against Director Om Raut, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla and the producers of the film..."

Through the letter, AICWA accused Adipurush of defaming the image of Lord Ram with its screenplay and dialogues.

The letter reads, "Adipurush Movie is Hurting religious Sentiment's of Hindus and Sanatan Dharma. Prabhu Shri Ram is a God for everyone in India not matter what religious faith one comes from, this movie depicts Lord Ram and even Ravan who looks like a character of a video game, with dialogues hurting every Indian in the country and across the globe. Actor Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan shouldn't have been part of such a disgraceful movie ever made in the history of Indian Cinema, Adipurush is a complete disaster of our faith in Shri Ram and Ramayan."

Helmed by Om Raut, Adipurush stars Prabhas as Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, and Sunny Singh as Laxman. The pan-India film was released in theatres on June 16.

Talking about the film's box-office collection, Adipurush, which was made on a budget of around 500 crores, raked in around 340 crores over the first weekend and added an additional 20 crores on its crucial Monday.
