Aditya Raj Kapoor Shammi Kapoor Son: You are never too old to pursue education, and legendary actor Shammi Kapoor's son, Aditya Raj Kapoor, has aptly proved it. Late actors Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Bali's is now a graduate, the first Kapoor to have achieved that degree.
Who Is Aditya Raj Kapoor?
Aditya lives in Goa. He is also a retired businessman, a part-time actor, and a full-time biker. He revealed that he resumed his education in his early 60s and credited his daughter Tulsi for encouraging him. He recently finished his BA degree and, hence, became the first person from the family to do so.
Earlier, Ranbir Kapoor stated that no one from his family had gone beyond class XII in school.
Aditya Raj Kapoor completes graduation at 67
Aditya recently completed his Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Speaking to Etimes, the actor-director said, "I had all the opportunities to study and just never took them. Over the years I realised my error. But that was not enough, it was only when I felt the emptiness within me that I realised the importance of a value education. Which brings me to my subject: Philosophy."
Aditya Raj Kapoor credits his daughter for pushing him to resume his studies
Aditya revealed that his daughter Tulsi encouraged him to again pursue his studies at the age of 61. He stated, "She dragged me to the Xerox shop where I made a copy of my documents and started filling up forms."
"I entered the portals of IGNOU. The teaching methodology suited me completely. I signed up for life. All study is at home with the books sent by them. Exams are at a nearby college. I enjoyed myself," he shared.
"Two weeks ago, I passed with 59.67% marks. An extremely respectable IInd class, with a Hons in Philosophy. IGNOU has been very supportive, they have a Regional Director at Goa, who is very prompt and helpful," he added.
Aditya Raj Kapoor dedicates his degree to his mother actress Geeta Bali
Dedicating the degree to his mother, the late actress Geeta Bali, he said, "My family was ecstatic. They couldn't believe that I stuck through. I have enrolled for my Masters in Philosophy. I did this for my mother Geeta Bali."
"This is all the impact of a Guru. My Guru: Bhole Baba. He wanted me to be different. So I am," he said, further adding that he has now enrolled for MA.
Aditya Raj Kapoor's relations
Aditya Raj Kapoor is the grandson of actor Prithviraj Kapoor. He is married to Priti Kapoor and has two children - a son named Vishwapratap Raj Kapoor and a daughter named Tulsi Kapoor.
He is the cousin of Rishi Kapoor, Karan Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, and Rajiv Kapoor, and uncle to Ranbir Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, and Kareena Kapoor.
Aditya Raj Kapoor's film career
Aditya began his film career in the 1970s as an assistant director to Raj Kapoor in films like Bobby. He worked as an assistant director in films such as Satyam Shivam Sundaram (1978), Geraftaar (1985), Saajan (1991), and others.
He made his comeback as a writer-director in 2007 with the films Don't Stop Dreaming and Sambar Salsa. In 2010, he made his acting debut with Chase and later acted in Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 and a couple of other films. Aditya's last screen presence was in Ashutosh Gowariker's TV series Everest in 2015.
