Afwaah Day 1 Box Office Collection: Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Bhumi Pednekar Starrer Turns Out To Be A Disaster

Afwaah Box Office Collection: The Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Bhumi Pednekar starrer received rave reviews from critics and viewers alike, however, the film opened on disappointing numbers. Afwaah, the political drama, directed by Sudhir Mishra hit the theaters on May 5, 2023.

Afwaah marks the return of Nawazuddin Siddiqui to the silver screens after more than a year. His last release, Heropanti 2 failed to impress the audience. The movie produced by Bhushan Kumar's T-Series and filmmaker Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks, is set in Sawalpur, a small town in Rajasthan.

The hard-hitting story revolves around Rahab (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who is a renowned advertising executive, and Nivi (Bhumi Pednekar), an heiress to a political dynasty. A malicious rumor created by social media machinery creates havoc and alters the trajectory of their lives.

While the story plot is gripping and thought-provoking, the film failed to witness footfalls on the day of its release. The hype around the film ahead of its release was next to zero, affecting the film's total collection on its opening day.

A report in Box Office World Wide suggests that Afwaah minted just Rs 20-25 lacs on day 1, proving to be an opening disaster. The film started on a slow note and failed to pick up momentum even later in the day.

Although the film didn't receive a good response at the ticket window, Twitter was filled with positive responses from movie-goers as well as critics.
