Mai Koshish Kar Raha Hun...: Akshay Kumar Breaks Silence On Delivering Back-To-Back Flops. Here's What He Said

Akshay Kumar's latest movie, Selfiee has failed at the box office, and on its second day, it could only make Rs 6 crore. Here's what he said about delivering consecutive flops.

Akshay Kumar Breaks Silence On Delivering Back-To-Back Flops

Akshay Kumar has been in the Hindi film industry for over 32 years and is one of the most successful actors of the present generation. Although the actor has delivered blockbusters, his recent films have not been performing well at the box office. His latest film, Selfiee which was released on February 24, has received mixed to negative reviews from both the audience and critics and has become a disaster. This continues a trend for Akshay, who did not have a single box office hit in 2022.

Meanwhile, his last hit was Rohi Shetty's Sooryavanshi in 2021. In a recent interview, Kumar broke his silence about giving back-to-back flops and shared that when his films don't perform well, he takes it as an opportunity to pause, introspect, and re-evaluate his approach. He also admitted that this is not the first time he has encountered such a situation and that he holds himself accountable for the lack of success of his movies at the box office.

AKSHAY KUMAR ON DELIVERING CONSECUTIVE FLOPS

When asked about his recent streak of unsuccessful films, Akshay Kumar told Aaj Tak, "This is not happening with me for the first time. In my career, I have had 16 consecutive flops at a time. There was a time when I had eight films in a row that did not work. Now, I have had three-four films in a row that did not work. The thing is that it happens due to your own fault, film ka na chalna (a film not working)." He further added that the actors have to rework themselves based on changing the taste of the audience.

He also said, "It is a great alarm, aapki film nahi chal rahi to galti aapki hai (If your films are not working, it is your fault). When your films flop in a row, it is an alarm for you that it is time for you to change. Mai koshish kar raha hun, wahi kar sakta hoon (I am trying to change, that is all I can do)."

He then added that he'd like to tell everyone that when films don't work, the audience must not be blamed. "Do not blame the audience or anyone else. It is my fault, 100%. Aapki film na chalna is not because of audience. It is because of what you selected. Maybe you have not given the right ingredients in the film."

AKSHAY KUMAR'S LAST FILMS PERFROMANCE

Akshay Kumar's Bell Bottom was the first major film to be released in theatres after the pandemic-induced lockdowns were removed. This was followed by his successful collaboration with Rohit Shetty in Sooryavanshi, which became the first Hindi box office hit post-pandemic. However, all of his subsequent theatrical releases since 2022 have failed to attract large audiences. Both Raksha Bandhan and Ram Setu and Samrat Prithviraj, which were released in 2022, failed to perform well at the box office.
