Akshay Kumar Gets Indian Citizenship On Independence Day: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has marked India's 77th Independence Day with a significant personal milestone, as he officially obtained Indian citizenship while renouncing his Canadian passport.

Akshay Kumar who has been a subject of criticism and trolling in the past due to his dual citizenship, took to Twitter to share his delight with fans.

On Independence Day today, Akshay took to Twitter and shared pictures of his documents of Indian citizenship. Earlier, the actor had several times mentioned his wish to renounce Canadian citizenship, and coincidently it was fulfilled on Independence Day.

Confirming his Indian citizenship, he wrote a heartfelt message, that read "Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!." Check

Fans and followers flooded his post with messages of congratulations and support. A user wrote, "OMG movie bhi hit ho gayi... Citizenship bhi mil gayi... Ab haters ka kya hoga."

AKSHAY KUMAR ON CANADIAN PASSPORT

Akshay previously spoke about his intention to renounce his Canadian passport during an interview with AajTak's Seedhi Baat. He revealed that during a challenging phase in his career when he faced a string of box office failures in the 1990s, he had applied for a Canadian passport as an opportunity to work abroad. However, with a twist of fate, his subsequent films turned into superhits.

In an emotional episode of 'Seedhi Baat' on Aaj Tak, Akshay Kumar shared, "India is everything to me. Whatever I have earned, whatever I have gained is from here. And I'm fortunate that I get a chance to give back. You feel bad when people say things without knowing anything."
