Akshay Kumar Joins Ajay Devgn & SRK For Vimal Ad: Akshay Kumar has returned as the brand ambassador of Vimal Pan Masala a year after facing heavy backlash for being associated with it, for which he had to previously apologise.

A new commercial released on Sunday brought back the trio of Akshay, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ajay Devgn as the brand's ambassadors. The advertisement shared online showed the three promoting the tobacco brand, while actor-model Soundarya Sharma also joined them.

The ad begins with Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn seated in a car, waiting for Akshay on the streets near his house. Their numerous calls and car honks remain unheard by Akshay as he is listening to music on headphones. While SRK tries to call him by throwing a ball at his window, which hits his neighbour Soundarya's window.

Ajay then opens a packet of pan masala and consumes it, and its aroma manages to grab Akshay's attention. He then comes down, and the ad ends with all of them doing the signature style of the brand.

Internet reacts to Akshay Kumar joining the Vimal commercial

Soon the video went viral, and netizens appeared puzzled as Akshay had promised not to be a part of the brand. One said, "Akshay will have to hear from the people. He had said he wouldn't do tobacco ads."

A netizen commented, "Akshay Kumar was not going to do Vimal ad, then what happened? What is this decision?" "Unhappy, upset, he didn't stick to his words." "Akshay ko phir se Galiyan padne Vali he," said one.

Another person wrote, "Paiso ke liye kuch bhi kr sakta hai .. Akshay Kumar." However, a fan defended him and said, "This is probably not tobacco, but some flavoured betelnut."

Akshay Kumar had apologised to fans

For the unversed, in 2022, he stepped down as brand ambassador after facing severe backlash. He had also apologised to fans and, in a statement, said, "I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi." The note dates back to April 2022.

"With all humility, I step back. I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause. The brand might continue airing the ads till the legal duration of the contract that is binding upon me, but I promise to be extremely mindful in making my future choices. In return I shall forever continue to ask for your love and wishes," he added.
