Alia Bhatt Reignites Nepotism Debate; Says ‘I Do Have That Privilege, But…’

Alia Bhatt Reacts To Nepotism Debate: Alia Bhatt has always been a subject of discussion when it comes to nepotism in the Hindi film industry. Being the daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and having Karan Johar as her godfather, Alia has had a privileged entry into the film industry.
A number of celebrities have put this time and again, among others, one is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who once said that 'Alia Bhatt has opportunities in her lap'. Alia Bhatt has again reacted to the debate during her latest interview with Harper Bazaar Arabia. The actress said she acknowledges that it is easier for her when compared to others.
ALIA BHATT SAYS IT'S EASIER FOR HER TO GET THROUGH
Alia said, "It has definitely come up a lot in conversation over the last couple of years. The long and short of it is, I empathise. I understand it's possibly been easier for me to get through the door than the next person. And I compare my dreams to another person's: no dream is bigger, smaller, or more intense."
ALIA BHATT SAYS SHE ACKNOWLEDGES HER PRIVILEGES
She further added, "Everybody's dreams are the same, everybody's desire is the same. So I completely understand where that conversation comes from. The only thing I can say is that I acknowledge the fact that I have gotten that head start. I acknowledge the fact that I do have that privilege, which is why I give 100 percent every day and I never take my work for granted. The only thing I can do is keep my head down and keep working."
Earlier also, Alia reacted to being called a 'nepo kid'. During an interview, she acknowledged that she understands people are angry about nepotism because of the privileges it brings. However, she added that she has worked hard to prove herself as an actor and she is not going to apologize for her privilege.
A video of Alia Bhatt expressing her frustation over being labelled as a 'nepo kid' also went viral on social media. Check out the video. Alia was speaking during an interview with Film Companion.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Alia will be next seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani alongside Ranveer Singh. Alia is also gearing up for her Hollywood debut, Heart of Stone.
