Arjun
Rampal
Shah
Rukh
Khan
Om
Shanti
Om:
Actor
Arjun
Rampal
has
been
in
the
film
industry
for
several
years.
He
has
seen
a
lot
and
recently
opened
up
about
the
existence
of
nepotism
in
Bollywood.
He
also
emphasised
how
star
kids
have
an
advantage
over
others
in
pursuing
an
acting
career.
Further,
he
described
Shah
Rukh
Khan's
second
character,
'Om
Kapoor'
from
Om
Shanti
Om
as
annoying.
ARJUN
RAMPAL
ON
NEPOTISM
AND
SHAH
RUKH
KHAN'S
CHARACTER
FROM
'OM
SHANTI
OM'
BEING
IRRITATING
Arjun
Rampal,
who
is
present
throughout
the
movie
Om
Shanti
Om,
plays
a
big
producer,
Mukesh
Mehra.
He
is
the
film's
main
antagonist.
His
character,
however,
doesn't
share
much
space
with
Shah
Rukh's
Om
Prakash
Makhija,
who
dies
in
a
fire
accident.
But,
Rampal
interacts
with
SRK's
reincarnated
character,
Om
Kapoor.
And
as
per
Arjun,
the
reincarnated
character
Om
in
the
film,
played
by
Shah
Rukh
Khan,
was
"irritating".
This
happened
when
Rampal
was
having
a
conversation
with
Harper's
Bazaar
about
nepotism
in
Bollywood.
The
actor
went
on
to
say
that
SRK's
rebirth
character
was
"nepo" and
bothersome.
Arjun
said
in
the
interview,
"I've
had
many
arguments
on
nepotism
with
a
lot
of
people.
Yes,
there
is
definitely
a
huge
advantage
that
a
person
from
a
film
family
has;
if
they
want
to
join
the
profession,
they
surely
have
a
head
start.
They
would
maybe
get
more
chances
than
another
person,
but
that's
the
destiny
of
that
person.
You
don't
choose
the
family
that
you're
born
into."
When
the
host
asked
if
Shah
Rukh's
Om
Kapoor
from
Om
Shanti
Om
was
a
nepo
baby,
Arjun
stated,
"When
he
(Shah
Rukh
Khan's
character)
is
born
the
second
time,
he
comes
a
nepo.
It
was
an
irritating
character."
For
the
uninitiated,
Arjun
Rampal
and
Shah
Rukh
Khan
have
worked
in
Ra.One
and
Don.
SRK
had
a
special
cameo
in
Arjun's
2006
film
I
See
You.
The
nepotism
debate
was
raised
by
Kangana
Ranaut
on
Karan
Johar's
chat
show,
Koffee
With
Karan,
and
since
then
the
debate
has
been
making
headlines.
Many
celebs
have
shared
their
viewpoints
on
the
issue,
however,
opinions
remain
divided
as
to
whether
it
is
a
problematic
issue
in
the
industry
or
not.
